Income Tax Calculator

Estimate and compare your India income tax liability under the Old and New tax regimes, FY-aware, including standard deduction, common deductions, Section 87A rebate, surcharge, and cess.

This is an estimate for planning purposes, not tax advice — it covers standard salary-income scenarios (standard deduction, 80C/80D/other deductions, Section 87A rebate with marginal relief, surcharge, and 4% cess) but not capital gains, business income, or surcharge marginal relief. Always verify against the latest ITR utility or a tax professional before filing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Whichever shows lower total tax here — the New Regime has lower rates but no deductions (no 80C, 80D, HRA, etc.), while the Old Regime has higher rates but lets you claim those. The right answer depends entirely on how much you can actually claim in deductions.

This is a real, well-known quirk of Indian tax law — the Old Regime's Section 87A rebate is a hard cliff at ₹5,00,000 taxable income with no marginal relief, so crossing it by even ₹1 loses the entire rebate. The New Regime's rebate (at ₹7L or ₹12L depending on the financial year) does get marginal relief, so it doesn't have this cliff.

Yes, for taxable income above ₹50 lakh — but without "surcharge marginal relief," a smaller, separate smoothing provision that only matters right at each surcharge threshold. For income above ₹50L, double-check the exact figure with a tax professional.
